Secretary General of the IMO visits the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP)   Leave a comment

The Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Roberto Linares Tribaldos, received a courtesy visit from the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Koji Sekimizu, to strengthen ties of friendship and bilateral support. Also present at the meeting were the Mayor of the city of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, the Ambassador of the Netherlands, J. Wiebe de Boer and the Ambassador of Panama to Great Britain, Ana Irene Delgado. Linares said the visit was of a protocol nature and informative, in which they discussed issues of interest to the institution, and the desire for mutual cooperation in different aspects of conventions, training, international regulations and port development.

“Panama’s participation in the structure of IMO is important; we should make the best effort for the benefit of the country, and have greater involvement in IMO’s technical decisions,” said Linares.  The IMO Secretary General Sekimizu, the Mayor of Rotterdam, the Ambassador of the Netherlands, and Panama’s Ambassador to Great Britain were visiting Panama to attend the Panama Maritime XI event which hosted one of the largest exhibitions of the maritime industry in the hemisphere, with representatives from Asia, Europe and America.
